Geriatric Dentistry – Geriodontics

Let us give back to our elders.

Geriatric patients are those over the age of 65 who require assistance in caring for their dentition due to frailty and impaired dexterity as a result of their age and the inevitable systemic diseases that affect them. Tooth loss, dental caries, periodontitis, dry mouth, and oral cancer are the most common oral conditions in geriatric patients. Each can have an impact on one’s quality of life.

The majority of older adults require no differences in treatment with regards to their oral health needs. But we are aware that some older adults have developed some associated health issues (e.g., medical problems, use of more medications, reduced dexterity, and social issues) and increased oral diseases as they become more frail, more dependent, and more cognitively impaired

With the population becoming older around the world, dentists are confronted with patients who have complex medical and social histories who deserve a wide range of services, including restorative, preventative, and diagnostic care. Dr. Gursharandeep Singh has over 15 years of geriatric dentistry experience. He will make sure every patient, family member, and/or caregiver is informed about all services and procedures.

We specialize in making sure you, your family member or your caregiver are properly trained to make sure you can keep oral wellness optimal between dental visits.

Geriatric Patient Management

Oral health care is more than a personal preference or a matter of convenience. It is required due to the compromised eating habits caused by swallowing difficulties or tongue and mouth movements, impaired speech, and gross changes in the face that are unavoidable with tooth loss.

Dentures are prosthetic appliances with teeth that are made to fill gaps left by missing teeth. Traditional removable dentures and even fixed dentures using dental implants are designed for them based on their preferences and financial resources. We at Deep Dental provide the most long-lasting and comfortable treatments to our elderly patients, leaving them feeling youthful and confident in their teeth and smiles, and thus exceeding their expectations on all levels.

Injured patients or those who are unable to visit our dental office can take advantage of our doctors’ house-visit / house-call services at no additional cost.
